Another season, another league title, another book for Dundalk FC.

We See Things They’ll Never See chronicles the glorious first season of Vinny Perth’s reign as the manager of Dundalk FC.

This comprehensive 304 page publication recounts every detail of the 2019 campaign, as ‘The Lilywhites’ retained the league title, as well as going agonisingly close to completing an unprecedented sweep of all five domestic trophies.

This is the fifth book we have designed for Dundalk FC, documenting the most successful period the football club has ever celebrated. With each book design, we wanted to improve and build on the previous years edition, adding subtle typographic changes and expanding the page size format.

Table of contents featuring, Akzidenz-Grotesk Extended and Compacta. Text pages combining ITC Garamond and Garamond Premier, with pull quotes set in GT America from Grilli Type. Cover with the title typset in Jean-Luc.

With the book documenting an 11 month season, we created typographically expressive spreads for each months introduction. This was a chance to be more experimental with the content, a break from the match reports and statistically heavy content.

Using a reductive colour palette taken from the football clubs crest, we used red, white, black and silver effectively to change pace and tempo, create dramatic tension, frame and complement the photographic content.
